Why does the TV automatically turn on?

STEP 1. Overview

There are two reasons why the TV can turn on automatically.

The TV is searching for the latest software updates on a broadcast signal

In this case, you may hear a clicking sound like the TV is powering on, but no picture is displayed. After the search for a possible download of the latest firmware, the TV turns off automatically.

Timer function

If you set up the Timer function, the TV will turn itself on at the pre-set time.

STEP 2. Adjusting or turning off the Software Upgrade

To adjust or turn off this function in the Software Upgrade menu, please follow the steps below.

Press the Menu button on the remote control to display the menu.
Enter Setup > System > Software Upgrade.
Adjust Standby Mode Upgrade.

Software Upgrade > Standby Mode Upgrade: On

(2008 TV models and older)

Software Upgrade > Standby Mode Upgrade > Off

(2009 TV models and newer)

IMPORTANT: We do not recommend turning this function off as you will not receive any future software upgrades online.

STEP 3. Timer function inactivation

To inactivate the Timer function, please follow the steps below.

Press the Menu button on the remote control to display the menu.
Enter Setup > Time.
Choose the Timer you want to inactivate > Inactivate the function.

Menu > Setup > Time > Timer 1
